China’s 2025 “Double 11” shopping festival has evolved into a powerful showcase of artificial intelligence innovation, as major e-commerce platforms harness AI to drive efficiency, precision, and consumer satisfaction. What began as an annual shopping event has now transformed into a large-scale demonstration of China’s growing strength in intelligent commerce and data-driven retail.
This year, Tmall, a core platform under Alibaba, leveraged AI to optimize the allocation of more than 50 billion yuan in shopping coupons. AI-powered decision models determined the most effective distribution strategy, increasing coupon redemption by 15% compared with previous years. The result highlights how data intelligence is enabling platforms to connect consumers and merchants with greater accuracy and value.
Meanwhile, JD.com integrated large AI models with robotic logistics systems for the first time. Through intelligent planning and coordinated robot operations, JD’s logistics network can now generate optimal delivery routes within two hours, raising overall delivery efficiency by nearly 20%. The combination of automation and AI-driven decision-making demonstrates how Chinese e-commerce is leading in operational modernization.
AI applications this year also extended to consumer insights and merchant empowerment. Alibaba has expanded its AI research and development investment, increasing computing capacity fortyfold. This has allowed its user behavior analysis cycle to extend from six months to ten years, boosting product recommendation accuracy and purchasing efficiency by about 25%. The result is a smarter ecosystem that continuously learns from long-term consumer trends, enabling more precise marketing and personalized shopping experiences.
For merchants, JD.com’s AI model support has proven equally transformative. During high-volume periods, sellers can now deploy AI-generated digital human IPs—created in under an hour using advanced voice and persona technology—to enhance consumer engagement. With AI assistance, complex issue resolution accuracy has reached 98%, while conversion efficiency has improved by 31%, reflecting a significant leap in business performance powered by intelligent tools.
According to Li Mingtao, an e-commerce expert cited by CNR News, the deep integration of AI across China’s e-commerce ecosystem marks the most important milestone of this year’s Double 11. “AI is now reshaping the entire chain—from consumer traffic and service experiences to merchant operations and logistics,” Li said. Platforms today provide mature, scalable AI tools that enhance personalization for users while optimizing product selection, inventory, and supply chains for businesses, lowering operational costs and improving promotion efficiency.
The 2025 Double 11 underscores how China’s e-commerce sector continues to lead through technological innovation and intelligent transformation. With AI at the core of its evolution, China’s retail economy is moving toward greater precision, sustainability, and global competitiveness—demonstrating the powerful synergy between digital intelligence and economic growth.
