BYD Will Select a Site for a Factory in Mexico

The head of BYD’s North American branch said in an interview on February 28 that the company expects to finalize the location of the Mexican factory by the end of this year, with the factory anticipated to produce 150,000 cars annually. The reason for establishing a factory in Mexico is to focus on the local market and increase sales. The company will look for a suitable location in the central and southern regions to save on transportation costs to consumers. And they will build the factory for the Mexican market, not the export markets.

Honeycomb Energy held a commissioning ceremony in Thailand, announcing that the Honeycomb Energy Thailand factory has officially started production and products have begun to be delivered in bulk, soon to be equipped in several new energy vehicle models under Great Wall and Hozon, launching in Thailand. This production start marks the localization of battery supply by Honeycomb Energy’s Thailand factory, further perfecting Honeycomb Energy’s new energy industry layout in the Asia-Pacific region.

The UK May Investigate Chinese Electric Vehicles

According to a report on February 27, the UK is preparing to investigate the influx of inexpensive Chinese electric vehicles into the market due to concerns that cars receiving Chinese subsidies could undermine local manufacturing. An automotive industry source said an investigation might be launched soon. A UK government spokesperson did not deny the market rumors but mentioned that they have yet to receive a formal request for an inquiry from car manufacturers, which is a necessary condition to initiate the investigation.
